In-Flight Entertainment

Join NextStep Kansas City on the Boulevard, and Take a Stand For Those Who Can't! On March 23rd, we crash the Boulevard Brewery, KC's most iconic brand, in an effort to raise awareness for Paralysis Recovery, and our area's only dedicated facility. There will be plenty of fun, great food, and great beer.

Taste of KC Raffle

Our world famous Taste of KC restaurant raffle is back, and better than ever! This raffle has become quite the staple at this event. We have worked hard to secure enough great restaurant gift cards to keep the winners busy, and full, all year long. There are many different restaurant  options within each package which range from sandwich shops, to fine dining, and $10 per card, up to $100. This really is a great way to get out and taste more of Kansas City.

Silent & Live Auctions

This year's silent, and live auctions have a lot of great new items that will surely get you in the bidding spirit. To help along the way, we have added a new twist to our event. Online bidding will be available for the silent auction! Online bidding is the way of the future, and it helps to take a lot of the work, and worry, out of watching your desired items. Don't worry, if you aren't use to this type of bidding. There is a link to the left that explains how it works, and we will be more than happy to assist you during the event. Don't forget your phone for the event!

Stuff the Purse is back! - What is better than a beautiful, designer purse?  A beautiful designer purse that is stuffed with extra goodies!  Come prepared to our annual gala to help us with this exciting live auction item.  We kindly ask that each of you bring a little something to put in our designer purse.  Cash is great but you can also bring gift cards, lotto tickets, event tickets, or anything else that will help sweeten the deal.  You will put your item inside our designer purse and we will auction the purse and its contents in our live auction.  If you want to take home the purse and all the loot inside, make sure to be the high bidder!

Fund-A-Need

There are over 17,000 new spinal cord injuries each year in the United States. Annually, spinal cord injuries cost roughly $40.5 billion dollars per year, and they are the second leading cause of paralysis behind strokes. Many injured have no insurance or find that insurance does not cover the costs of recovery, or have exhausted their means of funding their recovery.

100% of every dollar donated to tonight’s FUND-A-NEED program will go directly to help subsidize costs for those who wish to attend NextStep Kansas City, but do not have the financial means to do so.

Chris Sembower

Local Kansas City Artists - 21G: Art With Soul

Thank you, Chris Sembower, for creating a very special piece of artwork to help commemorate NextStep Kansas City's 10th anniversary! Chris, a local artist and illustrator, is a Kansas City native who grew up watching Kansas City sports with his dad. Being a die-hard fan comes pretty easy to sports fans in the Kansas City area, but it was the bond that it created with his dad that fueled his desire to visually illustrate what he heard and felt, to the world. As Chris developed his skills as an artist he channeled his love of comic books and the creative influence his parents had on him to develop his unique style of art. He has revolutionized the way so many fans relate to, and connect with particular moments in games. He has taken the moments that we allwish we could freeze in time, and allowed us to remember them in the most vivid, sensory-stimulating ways. After Chris lost his dad to MS, he not only wanted to be able to remember the bond that sports created for him and his dad, he wanted to be able to relive those memories. That is exactly what Chris's artwork does for all of us. It allows us to relive the sights, sounds, and feelings that we experienced when it actually happened.

Chris's experience, watching his dad work through his therapy sessions, gave him an understanding of what NextStep Kansas City clients are working so hard to achieve. He understands the importance of effective therapy and believes people should have every opportunity to achieve their healthiest, most independent life. NextStep Kansas City was fortunate to connect with Chris, for a donation, a few years ago through a mutual friend. His generosity never ended, and we couldn't be more thankful for his continued support and friendship!
